Methodological basis of the compensation of remote sensing and in situ data’s information for the ecologically-ameliorative monitoring of cultivated lands

The issue is the compensation of satellite and terrestrial information in determining the estimated indicators of the ecological and meliorative state of agrolandscapes at any spatial and temporal levels in the system of ecologicallyameliorative monitoring today as relevant as ever. For its solution, an analysis of the researches over five cultivated areas of the Steppe zone of Ukraine for the period from 2002 to 2017 had been carried out.  It was determined that for the conduction of the monitoring of cultivated lands on the basis of satellite information on the state of crops on specific soils, it is necessary to calculate the biophysical parameters according to the proposed formulas. This enables to create thematic maps of the moisture’s deficit in the fields and to formulate recommendations for irrigation of a separate field. The percentage of in situ data used in the calculations was equal to 75%  The designed thematic maps, based on the satellite information of the changes in moisture content, made it possible to determine the timing and the rates of an irrigation application. In this case, 10% of the in situ data was used. In both cases, the use of the situ data was mandatory. The results of the studies concerning changes in soil and vegetation cover of cultivated areas, which occurred during a certain time, showed that it is advisable to use empirical (dimensionless) indicators - spectral vegetative and soil indices. The use of indices calculated by satellite data in one case required the use of 30% of in situ data, and in the second, they should not be used at all. 
Thus, in the calculations of estimations indicators for satellite data a compensation effect exists: when incompleteness of one type of data is partially or fully offset by the strengthening of another.  The proposed methodologically substantiated compensation effect must be taken into account in a managerial’s decisions making with a pre-determination of a spatially-temporal level at what the task will be solved, and will substantially ensure optimization of the ecologically-ameliorative monitoring conduction with a timely detection and estimation of aridity’s manifestations, intensification of water erosion and deflation of soils.
