Abstract
In the process of solving the problem of teaching a foreign language in a higher school, the priority task is to develop and apply innovative teaching methods on practice.
The purpose of the article is to analyze the selection, combination and systematic implementation of methods of teaching of a foreign language.
Methods. The methods of analysis are used in the article.
Results. The communicative approach takes the first place among the methods of teaching English. It is based on learning English in real situations. The communicative
method involves the maximum immersion of a student into the linguistic process. The main purpose of this technique is to teach a student to speak fluently, and then to think.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to use blended learning technology. The principle of such method is to blend formal (studying in a classroom) and informal teaching methods and tools (e-learning, communication with teacher via e-mail, internet conferences, etc.)
Case method is a learning technique that is based on real situations. The application of the case-method reaches two goals: further improvement of the communicative competence (linguistic and sociocultural) and the formation of professional qualities of students.
Conclusions. The authors came to the conclusion that it is worth combining different approaches, using their strengths to achieve the desired result - the formation of communicative skills.
