THE CHARACTERISTICS STRAWBERRIES CULTIVARS (FRAGARIA × ANANASSA DUCH.) BREEDING OF DEPARTMENT HORTICULTURE NAMED AFTER PROF. V.L SYMYRENKO NULES OF UKRAINE

Abstract

A cultivar is an important element of technologies growing an agricultural crop and can provide for a stable yield and high profit.

The aim of our research was to study the pomological and biological characteristics of three strawberries’ cultivars of ("Bereginia", "Holosiivska rannia", "Fakel").

The observation of plants was carried out during vegetations 2010-2012.  The description of plants and their parts were made in the corresponding period of their development in accordance with generally accepted methods.

The obtained results showed, that a weather conditions has significantly influenced to the beginning and duration of phenological phases a growth and a development of strawberry.

The cultivar "Fakel" stood out by a dry matter content - 10.38%. The total concentration of titrated acids depending on the cultivar ranged from 1.06 to 1.17%. The content of vitamin C changed from 53.43 mg /100 gin the "Fakel" to 65.8 mg /100 gin the "Bereginia". The concentration of reducing sugar an averaged was 7.86-8.16%. We have received the rating within the limits 7.0-7.5 points by the cultivars tasting results.

Defined, that the cultivars "Fakel" and "Bereginya" by results of three years research are weakly affected by diseases (Marssonina potentillae f. fragariae (Lib.), Ramularia tulasnei Sacc)

The cultivars, that have been investigated, showed valuable morphological and biological characteristics and can be used in breeding.

All cultivars are suitable for consumption and processing, but priority for the "Golosiyivska rannia" is a fresh using.
