ASSESSMENT OF SOIL DEGRADATION PROCESSES ON THE PLOUGHING LANDS OF THE FOREST AREA OF KYIV REGION

The paper presented research results of estimation of degradation processes on arable lands of Kyiv region. It was established, that eroded chernozem of the Obukhiv district has soil organic matter losses and low level of water permeability are characteristic, which causes water-erosion processes and is evaluated as a high level of degradation. According to the agrophysical parameters (structure, water resistance and bulk density), eroded chernozem is characterized by low, high and medium level of degradation. The main reason for such soils is the lack of yield and biomass of crops. There are no phenomena of soil organic matter losses and reduction of cation exchange capacity in the typical chernozem of Fastiv region. The degradation level in the content of agronomic-valuable aggregates is low, there is no degradation in the content of water-resistant aggregates, and the bulk density is a low level. The use of mineral fertilizers, in combination with straw and green manure, as an alternative organic fertilizers, contributed to the improvement of the agrophysical parameters of chernozem, and a tendency to increase the humus content for the application of such agrotechnical measures was noted.
