The current situation with soil cartographic information is considered and the existence of a number of problem points is shown. Analysis of possible ways to solve them is determined by two main areas, which are analyzed along with their advantages and disadvantages. The first path involves modern large-scale soil surveys based on innovative scientific and methodological approaches using ground surveys, unmanned aerial vehicles and remote sensing of the Earth. In addition to its undoubted advantages, a number of significant shortcomings have been identified, which consist in high time and labor costs and corresponding economic ones. Given the lack of a sufficient number of professional staffing, this way of solving the problem is not predictably realized in the near future.
It is proposed to use the second possible path, the essence of which is to correct existing soil cartographic materials at the boundaries of administrative-territorial units of Ukraine based on archival materials using buffer zones and to build within their limits predictive mathematical models of soil cover, which are also created for areas where the survey has not yet were carried out. Among its positive aspects are the use of new scientific and methodological methods for modeling cartographic soil materials, low time and labor costs, the ability to use remote sensing data to refine the contours.
