Sunflower is one of the most important and most profitable crops in Ukrainian agriculture, so its cultivation is constantly intensified. Among all the diversity of sunflowers, hybrids of confectionery use deserve special attention. They have a number of unique properties and can provide yields up to 5,0 t/g. Taste qualities and nutritional properties of sunflower confectionery not only provide a stable demand for products, but also make it possible to refer to the popular nowadays category of healthy eating. In the foreign market, one of the largest suppliers of sunflower confectionery is China, and in Europe – Bulgaria.
The confectionary sunflower is grown for consumption of cores. The important parameters of sunflower in this area of use are: seed size, low oil content and huskiness, livestock breeding ability, which ensures maximum separation of husk from the core, a large, odorless kernel with neutral taste, high seed yield.
The purpose of the research was to create experimental hybrid sunflower confectionery use direction and their evaluation on the main economic and valuable indicators.
In the course of the research, established fertility restorer lines, sterility and their sterile analogues, which were distinguished by large seeds, a high weight of 1000 seeds, low levels of huskiness and high protein content, were used. The created parent components have a high score of resistance to the most common pathogens of sunflower diseases.
These lines were used to create hybrid sunflower confectionery use directions.
As a result of the research, 11 experimental confectionery sunflower hybrids were obtained with a potential yield of 5,7–6,2 t/ha and a high content of seed protein up to 33,0 %, a low oil content (up to 49,5 %) and a level of huskiness at level 33,0 %.
The created materials should be used by donors of genes of economic and valuable features in the selection of sunflower confectionery.
