In this article the structure, tasks and powers of the International Epizootic Bureau (OIE) and of the World Veterinary Association (WVA) are analyzed. A sample of specialized veterinary organizations was conducted, the peculiarities of their activity and the influence of such associations on the development of veterinary science and the qualification of veterinary medicine doctors were analyzed.
The cooperation between the Veterinary Service of Ukraine with the World Veterinary Association (WVA), the International Epizootic Bureau (OIE), with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO), non-governmental organizations such as animal health (International Federation for Animal Health), the International Veterinary Biosafety Workgroup and other international organizations and scientific societies.
Specialized international veterinary organizations are actively engaged in advanced training of veterinary medicine doctors, many of them have extensive training programs for general practitioners and for specialized specialists. It is these associations that determine the direction of development of veterinary science and provide funding for the most up-to-date research in veterinary medicine. These organizations also influence on the training of veterinary doctors by setting clear criteria and requirements for a diplominated specialist. In some countries, associations are also authorized in licensing.
Unfortunately, in Ukraine, there are few specialized veterinary associations in comparison with EU countries and North American countries, and some of them exist formally without taking any measures. Therefore, in our opinion, it would be advisable to look at the experience of EU and North American countries where such associations were started over a hundred years ago, and their activities are clearly regulated by law.
Ukraine continues to integrate more closely into the global economic and legal space. Non-governmental associations of veterinary medicine doctors become associate members and actively cooperate with specialized international organizations. Therefore, over time, the impact of such organizations on specialist training and veterinary science will only increase.References
