The Essence of a Journalist's Language Personality

Abstract. The "language personality" concept is clarified in the article. Also, the main aspects of language personality are described. In particular they are language ability, communicative necessity, communicative competence, language consciousness and language behavior. Their dependence and interdependence are outlined. And also, the interrelation of language personality and language consciousness are traced in the article.
The essence of the "linguistic personality of a journalist" definition is analyzed. So, the attention is focused on the ways of forming a linguistic personality of a journalist and the main objective factors, the realization degree of a journalist individual-authorial potential is depended on. The main stages of formation and development of linguistic personality are identified.
The competencies that a future journalist should have are analyzed, among them the professional-pragmatic one is provided. It consists of discursive, operational-strategic, functional competencies, the importance of the journalist's ability to define communicative tasks, to build tactical-strategic actions according to communication genres.
Linguistic personality in a broad term is defined as a personality who contains mental, social, national, ethical and other components that are reflected through his or her language and discourse. It is outlined that the personality linguistic of future journalist includes personal and professional speech processes, covering the main stages of speech-thinking activity, from communicative intention to the final product - the text.
The language personality model is divided into verbal-semantic (actually linguistic), which determines the entire vocabulary and phrases are used by the individual in the natural verbal communication; and cognitive (cognitive) which is related to intellectual potential of the individual, his or her cognitive activities; pragmatic reveals the purpose and tasks.
The article is aimed at studying and deeper understanding of the concept of "linguistic personality of a journalist", for further development of didactic systems and effective methods of a future journalist personality linguistic development by means of Ukrainian language, national culture, value system in order to form a professionally self-sufficient, competitive specialist according to society and the labor market.
