The eponymic terms functioning in morphological and clinical medical terminology are studied in this article. Topicality of the research is associated with the need for covering informative specificity of eponymic terms, their ability to display the special knowledge and information that are used in scientific and professional communication.
The purpose of the research is to characterize the eponymic terms as information carrier about special knowledge and concepts on example of eponymic terms, the components of which are the names of the researchers of ancient and modern Greece, who studied the structure of the human body and violation of its physiologic functions; to clarify the meaning of "specialized knowledge".
In the research it was found that eponymic terms are the carriers of information about specific concepts and knowledge that are collected, recorded and stored for a long time. Terminological phrases broadcast the accumulated special knowledge as a scientific-professional and socio-cognitive experience, which was captured and multiplied by humanity at different stages of development of scientific-professional and social thought. The obtained result correlates with the conclusions of other linguists about the ability of eponymic terms to accumulate and maintain special knowledge, to serve as a source of special scientific and professional information.
Subsequent studies of eponymic terms with metamorphosed eponyms having additional information-cultural component of meaning, will contribute to their deeper understanding as a language of science for special spheres of use.
