Abstract

The article deals with the existential and philosophical concepts in post-war lyrics of Mykhailo Sytnyk. It’s revealed that concepts that dominate in the poet’s lyrics, determine its perception of the realities of the world which transforms into own being-in-the-world in its deepest inner psychological, artistic and philosophical level ‒ the existence of the poet, expressed in the poetic word. Mykhailo Sytnyk as the author of the most integrated in his poetic word, more ‒ in his own art of being-in-the-world, thus research of existential and philosophical concepts in poetic texts of the author gives an opportunity to fully reveal the artistic world of the artist in his inseparable unity with the realities of that epoch, which member and witness of the tragic events was the poet himself. Analyzing the poetry of M. Sytnyk it is important to single out, first of all, concepts that in terms of existential analysis dominate in the being-in-the-world of the personality (of the lyrical hero in fiction) ‒ alienation, anxiety, loneliness, death ‒ causing it to eventually make freedom of choice that will identify non-genuine or authentic mode of existence. In the centre of existential and philosophical conceptual of the art world of Mykhailo Sytnyk there is a dominant concept «Homeland» (Motherland, native land, native shore, own home), in fact, in the individual author’s existential interpretation of the poet-exile – «Motherland is lost forever». Other basic concepts (loneliness, alienation, death) are semantically related to him, and, besides the traditional existential markers-concepts (philosophical, psychological, axiological) they create an individual and existential picture of expression of the author’s «I» in his poetry being-in-the-world. The poet’s loneliness resulting from the tragic circumstances of life, growing over time in acute inner epistemological loneliness, emotional devastation that results in suffering, isolation, alienation from the realities of the world that is less and less of interest for him, because Ukraine is absent in this alien world.

Therefore, the main motives of post-war nostalgic lyric of the poet is longing for the lost Motherland, bright memories of it and tragic rejection of the alien world realities, that forever tore him from the native land and forced to become an immigrant-exile. The article analyzes the leading existential motifs in the works of artists that make artistic and philosophical basis of his post-war poetry.
