This article informs about the general features and methods of translating the English terms in the sphere of agricultural business, management and marketing into Ukrainian.
There are two stages in the process of translating a term: 1. Clarification of the meaning of the term within the context; 2. Translating into native language. The task of the translator is to choose the right method in translation process in order to accurately convey the meaning of any term. The main method for translating terms is translation using the lexical equivalent.
Translation of multicomponent terms of agricultural business, management and marketing is particularly difficult. First, the meaning of the main component of a complex term must be revealed. Then other minor components are considered.
It is often impossible to use the meaning of the words and phrases that are offered in the dictionary, there is a need to deviate from system equivalents. In the case when the dictionary does not give the exact equivalent of the terminology unit or if there are no match variants of a certain term of the original language, the following transformations are used: transcription and transliteration, loan translation, descriptive translation etc. The translator's task is to correctly select the method during the translation in order to accurately convey the meaning of each term.
Transformations can be combined with each other, taking the form of complex transformations. Thus, the synergy of complex lexical-grammatical and syntactic transformations is an important mean of achieving the adequacy and equivalence of the translation of English terminology in the field of agricultural business, management and marketing into Ukrainian.
