Actual Approaches of Discourse for the Study of Aviation Professional Communication

Abstract.The article analyzes a great amount of scientific material, which indicates that the scientists put emphasis on that the concept of discourse. It is one of the vital concepts of modern pragmatic linguistics and linguistics of the text.
The purpose of the research is to analyse the actual approaches of discourse for the study of aviation professional communication.
Results of research. The concept of discourse is associated with communication within the expression of rules of communication, individual channels, a way of presenting the purpose of the speakers, all the manifestations of communication in society. The article deals with the opinions of different scientific approaches to the definition of “discourse” and describes the criteria which is the centre of scientific discussion and serve as the basis for its typology. Science cannot develop without generality, accuracy of scientific theories and concepts, special terminological base, which is the basis of scientific activity, ensuring the objectivity. English radiotelephony discourse is interpreted as the speech of aviation professionals whose purpose is to verbally exchange English language professional information during a flight by radiotelephony communication. It is proved that knowledge of the language system (lexical, grammatical, syntactic, morphological, orthoepic normativity) and the ability to apply them are the key to successful verbal speech interaction «pilot – air traffic controller». A system is oriented to communication exercises and tasks aimed at the development of speech, prediction skills and auditory endurance, skills in syntactic, grammatical, lexical normativity, developed on the basis of constructivist approach, practical implementation of which is presented by experiential learning.
