Phenomenon of surzhik is very contradictory, so it is interesting for linguists and it affect on its usage in literature and rock-poetry. The specifics of the surzhik, the role of surzhikism, their functions and the shades that they give to rock poetry are established. The purpose of our research is to investigate the phenomenon of surzhik in lyrics of Ukrainian rock-poets of the 80s of the twentieth century from the point of view its stylistic potentiality. The article deals with the dynamics of the stylistic usage of surzhikisms together with other types of vocabulary (abusive vocabulary, common speech (colloquialisms), slang, jargon, dialect unit, internationalisms) in the literary texts of the 80s of the twentieth century to show author᾽s intellect and emotionally saturate the text. The phonetic, lexical and syntactic manifestations of the Ukrainian-Russian surzhik in comparison with modern codified English borrowings are analyzed. The phonetic level is represented by original spelling of some consonants and final [t] in Present Simple forms of verbs, replacements of some affricates with fricatives, the saturation of Russian lexemes in the Ukranian phonetic shell. Lexical level is represented by active usage «є» in position after consonant, especially in Russian borrowings, Ukrainized forms of Russian verbs, usage ofirregular forms, usage of Russianisms instead of normative Ukrainian equivalents. Syntactic level is represented by qualificatives, which are built irregularly, usage of prepositions and cases according to Russian examples. The features of surzhik in rock poetry are singled out. The article defines surzhik of which parts of the speech is the most widespread in Ukrainian rock poetry of the 80s of the twentieth century. In rock-poetry verbal and adverbial surzhikisms are the most common, but there are substantival, adjectival, pronominal surzhikisms and conjunctional surzhikisms. Different views on the phenomenon of surzhik and its usage in artistic texts are presented and the opinion about its usage in Ukrainian rock poetry is given. The views of linguists on the phenomenon of surzhik are quite contradictory. Surzhik in rock-poetry is used for the stylistic purpose. Surzhik is used as device of creation ironic expression when styling oral speech. The best example of this is ironic comparison in lyrics of «Braty Gadyukiny». Surzhikisms make the expressions more expressive and emotional. Surzhik is used to distinguish special audience, to shock it, sometimes author wants to unite with it, it helps to express author᾽s opinion on some social problems. Surzhikisms in rock-poetry reproduce the futurism of the situation, emphasize the ironic or sarcastic attitude of the author to a certain phenomenon, Surzhikizm-Russianisms are used as an element of the language game become stylistic analogs of slang.

The prospect of research lies in need to follow achievements of linguistics in studying the phenomenon of surzhik in Ukrainian rock-poetry and linguistic analysis of surzhikisms in lyrics of Ukrainian rock-poets of the twentieth and the twenty-first centuries.
