National University of Life and Environment Sciences of Ukraine
The research of the bioproductivity and energy potential of the forest-forming species involves the evaluation of the qualitative features of the trees phytomass, which are determined by hereditary programs of the plant organism and the influence of the ecological factors.
The aim of this study is to establish values of average basic woodʼs density of the Black locust trunk in the forest stands within Northern Steppe of Ukraine
It is established the depending of searching parameters from the main biometric characteristics of model trees such as age, trunk diameter and height of the trees.
Investigations of basic trunk wood density of Black locust were carried according to P.I. Lakyda's procedure. In the course of investigations twenty test trees in the 20 temporary plots were cut and measured, biometric indicators of the plantations in which they grew were determined, 130 wood samples were analyzed. Test trees age is from 3 to 89 years.
The values of the average basic density of the phytomass components trunks of test trees Black locust have variance relatively trend lines, which characterize the woodʼs density dependence from biometric indicators of the trees. The statistical analysis is carried out and the main biometric characteristic and the investigated indicators of the law of normality distribution was analyzed. In the course of statistical analysis, it was determined that the basic wood density and basic wood in the bark with tree age, diameter and height has direct correlation, and basic bark density – inverse correlation
The average basic woodʼs density is characterized by an increasing type with age, diameter and height of the test trees black locust. The maximum value of the average basic woodʼs density is 612 kg·(m³)-1 and corresponds to a test tree from the overmature age group, aged 68 years, with diameter – 21.8 cm and height – 16.0 m. The minimum value of this indicator (375 kg·(m³)-1) was registered for the thirty-eight years old tree with diameter 16,0 cm and 15.7 m.
The average basic trunk barkʼs density has a significant dispersion. The difference between the maximum absolute value of the natural barkʼs density (421 kg·(m³)-1) for the test tree: a – 45 years, d1.3 – 18.3 cm, h – 14.0 m) and the minimum value (214 kg·(m³)-1) test tree: a – 89 years, d1.3 – 28,6 cm; h – 22.7 m is 50.8 %. Particularly, the trend for a significant dispersion of basic barkʼs density is observed for the trees from overmature age group. In general, tends the basic barkʼs density to decrease with age, diameterand height of test trees was detected.
Тhe trend lines is noted for the dependence of the average basic woodʼs density in the bark from the taxation parameters of the Black locust test trees is increase.
Taking into account the sufficient homogeneity of experimental data on bonitet and type of forest conditions, on the basis of the obtained data for mathematical models for estimating the average basic density from the biometric parameters of test trees has been searched. It was not possible to obtain positive results for mathematical models estimating dependence of the average barkʼs density from age, diameter and height of the test trees.
The indices of average basic density of Black locust trunks in the Northern Steppe of Ukraine cannot compared with the data for this forest-forming species that grows in other natural zones of Ukraine due to the absence of such studies.
Account in determining the dynamics of above-ground phytomass, calculations of the volumes of deposited Black locust stands of carbon and the development of measures aimed at regulating the ecological functions of forests in the Steppe zone of Ukraine possibly in the presence of the investigated indicators.
