The article contains the analysis of the peculiarities of current activities of educational districts. The results of author’s analysis enable to conclude that during the 2000s, the interaction of local self-government and public organizations in education management reveals the periods of both increasing and decreasing the role of the public in management processes. The future growth of the role of public organizations in the management of education is predicted due to delegation of the part of the administrative powers to local self-government.
