Ukrainian youth face the task of developing their civic values system according to the modern socio-political military challenges and the peculiarities of their professional vocation. Therefore, the aim of our research was to investigate students' views on the ideal society and the main values of Ukrainian society in the wartime. We used the method of content analysis of written creative works (essays) of second-year students of Ternopil National Medical University, inductive method for processing research results, methods of theoretical, historical and pedagogical analysis. According to the results of the study, key concepts that reflect the civic values and expectations of modern youth have been defaned: freedom, independence, responsibility, individualism, morality, dignity, happiness, equality, justice, honesty, courage, wisdom, openness, sensitivity, kindness, love, family. Future doctors named moral responsibility as a necessary condition for an ideal society. They stated about transformation of values in wartime – from the priority of material values to fundamental existential ones as well. It is concluded that the professional training of medical university students concerning the development of skills of enlightenment work among the population should be strengthened so that young persons contribute to the promotion of constructive civic values in the university environment today and in future professional activities.
