Abstract

The article describes the role of legal culture for ensuring sustainable development of Ukrainian society. Attention is focused on the need to study the category of value, which is Central to the theory of legal culture.

The author found that scientific research does not have an unambiguous approach to the essence of the «value» category. The analysis of the value phenomenon gives grounds to speak about its properties such as «significance»; cognitive (knowledge) and emotional (evaluation) components of value; components of evaluation (subject and object of evaluation, objective and subjective sides of evaluation); the process or procedure for establishing value; the social nature of values and differentiation of values for different participants. The author formulated the concept of value.

Keywords: significance, evaluation, legal culture, sustainable development, value
