In order to improve the competitiveness of Ukraine's economy, accelerate the pace of economic development, attract investment in the economic development of regions, in Ukraine in the period of 2004–2006, special centers were introduced –industrial parks, which should become «points of regional growth».
The aim of the article is to examine the concept and legal characteristics of industrial parks. An industrial park in accordance with Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine «On Industrial Parks» is a territory, formed according to the city planning documentation and equipped with an appropriate infrastructure, within which members of the industrial park allowed to carry out economic activities in the field of industrial production, as well as scientific – research activity, activity in the field of information and telecommunications on the terms specified by the law and the contract on the implementation of economic activities within the industrial park.
On the basis of the analysis of the relevant provisions of the Law «On Industrial Parks» and the doctrinal characteristics of the industrial park, we consider it expedient to provide a definition. The industrial park is a specially organized place for new production, the territory or a complex of objects of real estate managed by a single operator consisting of a land plot (sites) with production, administrative, warehouse and other premises and facilities, provided with energy carriers, engineering and transport infrastructure and administrative and legal conditions for the placement of productions.
