Refrigeration and climatic equipment every year find wider application in agriculture, industry and everyday life. The increasing number of such technical means requires the use of various instruments, devices and materials specific to their installation, maintenance and repair. Developed and implemented all new, more environmentally friendly substances that act as refrigerants, but the origins of these substances in the rooms and the atmosphere are extremely undesirable both from the environmental and economic point of view. Given the fact that modern refrigerants - freon no odor, leakage detection and localization it is possible by means of special devices - detectors (indicators) freon leak.
Modern leak detectors are based on different principles of action, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages. The defining element that determines the specific properties of the device is the gas sensitive sensor that reacts to the presence of microscopic quantities of refrigerant (freon). The most widely used solid-state semiconductor, electrochemical, and optical (infrared) sensors.
Sensitive semiconductor sensor element is a solid oxide metal such as SnO2, ZnO, WO3, in the form of film or polycrystalline sintered ceramics that are directly in contact with the heater.
Electrochemical gas sensors using sensitivity electric potential between the electrodes that are immersed in an electrolyte specific composition of the gas environment.
Optical gas sensors are based on the phenomenon of selective absorption optical infrared radiation by molecules in the gas phase.
This article attempts to find a way to reduce the cost of freon leak detector to promote their use at customers and operators of refrigeration and climatic equipment. It is proposed to use as the sensitive detector cheap semiconductor gas sensors that are in mass production, particularly in Ukraine.
