MICROSCOPIC CHANGES IN THE LIVER, KIDNEYS AND PANCREAS OF DOGS IN CASE OF EXPERIMENTAL ENTERAL SARCOCYSTOSIS

Abstract.ResearchsonthedistributionofsarcocystosisamongdogsinUkrainehavenotbeencarriedout. Inanaccessibleworldliteraturepostmortemchangesincaseofsarcocystosisofdogsaredescribedinsufficiently. Theaimofourstudywastoexaminemicroscopicchangesintheliver, kidneysandpancreasofdogsincaseofexperimentalenteralsarcocystosis. Theliver, kidneyandpancreasofthreepups, experimentallyinfectedwithSarcocystis, wereusedinourinvestigation. Forhistologicalstudies, selectedpiecesofthoseorganswerefixedin 10% neutralaqueoussolutionofformalinand, afterdehydrationinethanolsofincreasingconcentrationsandchloroform, wereembeddedinparaffin. Sliceswiththicknessof 7 - 10 micronswereobtainedbyusingsledgemicrotome. Todetectmicroscopicstructureoforganssectionswerestainedwithhematoxylinandeosin.
Intheliverofdogs, incaseofexperimentalenteralsarcocystosis, granulardystrophyanddestructionofthehepatocytesandinterlobularproliferationoffibrousconnectivetissuewererecorded. Inkidneysextracapillaryserousglomerulonephritisandgranulardystrophyofepitheliumofconvolutedandstraighttubulesweredetected. Inthepancreasmicroscopicallytheswelling, disruptionanddestructionofindividualacinusoftheglandwerefoundout.
