Abstract
INFLUENCE OF THE ADSORPTIVE LAYER OF METAL PARTICLES ON LIGHT SCATTERING
S. Stetsenko
The urgency of the study of dielectric and spectral characteristics of heterosystems with metallic inclusions of the order of 5-15 nm is due to a number of properties of these systems and their active use in modern technologies for problems of dielectric and optical spectroscopy of the surface, optical recording of information.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the influence of the adsorption layer of a spherical metal particle on the amplification of light scattering on adsorbed molecules in an external electric field.
The article analyzes some numerical results from this topic, obtained in recent years. The results of investigations of the influence of the adsorption layer of a spherical metal particle on the intensification of the light scattering by molecules in an external electric field are presented. The method analyzed in this paper gives an opportunity to study the state of individual groups located on the surface of particles and their complexes. This is especially important, since a huge number of processes occur precisely at the interface of the phases.
The analysis of the calculations showed that the presence of an external electric field leads to a change in the electrodynamic and optical properties: redistribution of charges, displacement of the position of peaks, decrease in the intensity of absorption of electromagnetic radiation and increase in the intensity of the combination scattering. This allows us to assert that the adsorption of atoms or molecules on the surface of a metal particle also involves a change in luminescence, absorption, and a number of nonlinear effects. The character of such a change depends on the parameters of the disperse system, the frequency of excitation of electromagnetic radiation and the degree of roughness of the surface layer of the particle.
