Abstract

The method of 3D terrain model construction is given in the article. This method is used to solve the problems of constructing tactical protection diagrams of light weight combat vehicles (LWCV). When creating mathematical models of the terrain, it is suggested to use, as input, the information of the LIDAR satellite. Unlike modern geoinformation systems, where data is mainly used in raster or vector formats, the described polygonal 3D terrain model allows solving the problems of placing a model of a combat vehicle on a simulated terrain surface. Thus, the placed on the 3D terrain LWCV model changes orientation in space, affects the dimensions of the protection diagram. The developed method of terrain modeling and the mathematical models obtained on its basis are designed to solve problems of constructing tactical protection diagrams of LWCV and can be used as dual-purpose products. Further work on the development of the method is aimed at expanding the database and can be used to solve problems of nature management, agronomy and forestry.
