The article considers Kyiv park zones, which are the objects of a single nature protection complex, “programmed” to perform recreational and relaxation functions; which have historical, cultural, scientific, educational and aesthetic values. Scientific Novelty: park zones of a modern metropolis as a means of communication support the informational code in the context of social communication; they serve as a source of leisure industry in the time-space dimension, and have a positive effect on the formation of ecological culture. The urgency of the stated problem is the need to study centuries-old trees that grow in park areas of the modern metropolis, with the goal of establishing their historical, cultural, scientific, educational and aesthetic significance. Therefore, they have not only botanical but also historical values. The paper analyzes the historical value of the trees grown in Kyiv – chestnut tree of Petro Mohyla, Kazakov’s maple, the oldest mulberry tree, the oldest cherry or lilac trees, eternal oaks, ancient cypress, ash trees and other memorable trees, listed in the State Register of Ukraine. Methodology. The conducted research is to identify the factors that confirm the working hypothesis about the need to create a single state register of valuable species of trees and bushes in different categories of green plantations, which in general form the natural environment and is a significant lever of natural resources in Ukraine. All nature reserve areas of Kyiv have not only different statuses, but they also vary in territories and collections of taxonomic units, and have their own interesting history. Therefore, they have not only botanical but also historical value. Conservation of unique century-old trees both in the field and at the national level will help to introduce European environmental norms and rules of urboecology into standards of modern life. Time makes its own adjustments, which we owe.
