Abstract

The river Uzh is the main source of water supply of the regional center - Uzhhorod and the surrounding villages. Over the past decade, deterioration of the ecological status of the reservoir has been noted, which determines the relevance of conducting a number of studies to assess the quality of surface water and finding ways to restore and preserve the natural state of ecosystems. The purpose of this article is a comprehensive assessment of the quality of water of the transboundary river, from February 2016 to March 2017. Spatio-temporal characteristic of chemical and microbiological indicators of water quality in the river Uzh was conducted. Positive correlations are established between the last during the year. Investigation of the levels of anthropogenic pressure on different areas of the river basin allowed to conditionally divide it into an technogenically transformed area where the highest level of pollution is observed in terms of ammonia nitrogen which is characterized by excess of  TLDfish in 18 times (9,19 mg / l), nitrates in 8 times (0,63 mg / l), formaldehyde in 6 times (0,06 mg / l) and phenols in 5 times (0,005 mg /l) significantly deteriorates the quality of water and microbiological indicators. The territory of the Uzh basin within the regional center-urbanized is characterized by moderate pollution, which completely characterizes its location, in particular, the increase of the coli index range beyond the city which in summertime reached a maximum value of 142 CFU/l .The main influence on the ecological status of the reservoir in the lower reaches of the river make the physical and geographical conditions of the area, which leads to the pollution of the territory by organic compounds increasing concentrations are closely correlated with the increase in the level of microbiological contamination. The conducted studies allow to determine the most anthropogenic affected areas of the river basin. These results can serve primarily to take measures to eliminate or reduce the negative impact of development, as well as to improve surface water monitoring systems of the Uzh River, especially in the framework of international co-production.

Key words: surface water, nitrogen compounds, total microbial count, seasonal monitoring
