Abstract. During operation, electrical devices are under various influences, which are determined by the modes of their operation and the environment. In laboratory studies of electromagnetic starters, new contact materials, taking into account the influence of all factors and properties is a complex multilateral task, requiring a large number of experiments. Therefore, it is necessary to have information about the five or six most significant influence factors that determine the condition of the starter while simultaneously affecting the starter several tens of operational factors.
The list of operational influence factors that are encountered during the operation of control and protection devices used in electrical installations of the agro-industrial complex is given. The classification of the specified operational factors is carried out, as well as the main reliability parameters of the electromagnetic starters are indicated. An analysis of the study of the reliability of systems and devices was carried out, in which two trends can be distinguished: the first is based on the study of statistical, only probabilistic characteristics of the patterns of occurrence of malfunctions and failures during operation; the second is to study the deterministic approach to the physical theory of the reliability of apparatuses and establishes the laws governing the flow of physicochemical processes in them.
The reliability of devices is determined using general theoretical methods (calculation, calculation, experimental, experimental) and engineering methods for calculating reliability, which use reference data and operation data.
It is noted that the main indicators of the reliability of starters are indicators of reliability, durability, safety and maintainability.
