Тraining of agrarian journalists: prospects and goals

Strengthening the position of Ukraine as an independent state in the world community requires its broad information presence in different regions of the world, creating adequate human resources to ensure relevant activities. Under conditions of Ukraine's integration into the world community a society needs for highly qualified journalists who have special knowledge in the field of agricultural sciences are actualized, because Ukraine is positioned as powerful agrarian state in the world.
The purpose of the article is to describe the prospects and goals of training specialists in the specialty "Journalism" at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine.
Bachelor of Journalism should master both general competences (capacity for applying knowledge in practice, grounding of basic knowledge of the profession, oral and written communication in native language, knowledge of foreign language, appreciation of diversity and multiculturality, interpersonal skills etc.) and specific ones (to know trends in global and native journalism, capacity for analyze them in historical context; to form information content; to create and promote effective information products; to analyze, critically evaluate, edit, prepare material for different media; to use a wide range of styles and genres in accordance with the requirements of the profession; to apply the methodology of research in the field of journalism etc.).
The opening of new specialty "Journalism" at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine is determined by needs of contemporary society for qualified journalists who have a high humanitarian culture, special knowledge in the field of agricultural sciences and creative thinking, are motivated to sustainable professional development, able to correctly and objectively analyze, interpret and disseminate information about current events, issues, trends in the development of agriculture in Ukraine and abroad.
