Eponymical terms, the components of which are the scientists’ proper names of Ukrainian origin or the scientists, who have left a remarkable imprint in the development of Ukrainian medicine, were analyzed in this article.
Topicality of the article is caused by describing and analyzing terminological units functioning in Ukrainian language in their lingo-cultural and lingo - historical aspects, which appeared on the basis of proper names of persons, who had medical practice on the Ukrainian lands.
The aim of the article is describing eponymical terms of the scientists with surnames of Ukrainian origin and those who worked on the Ukrainian lands at different times as means preserving of cultural and historical information of Ukrainian people's memory. The representations of achievements of scientists' proper names, whose surnames became the components of eponymical terms describing scientific concepts, which are being displayed in Microsystems of medical terminology to identify their structural features, were also analyzed in this work.
The results of the research determine that eponymical terms represent a reflection of the polyhedral linguistic and extra-linguistic activity. Unlike other similar researches on the following subject it was found out that the terms of the names of the scientists who worked or were born on the Ukrainian lands at different times, in linguistic and cultural aspects reflect the accumulation of material and spiritual experience of the Ukrainian people, their interpenetration and intercultural exchange, and the evolution of scientific thought, the country's priority in the invention. Terms-eponyms accumulate a connotation of national cultural and geographical content; they are the custodians of cultural and historical information and memory of the Ukrainian people. Eponymical terms have their models and structural-typological characteristics.
Further researches of eponymical terms in other microterminological systems, which highlight proper names of persons, who were connected with the formation and rise of Medical Sciences at different times in Ukraine, are promising now.
Summary of the research may be the basis for specific principles of lexicographical analysis based on consideration on the semantics in the terms of cultural and historical factors.
