Humanistic orientation in formation of foreign language competence of future biotechnologists

The article defines the foreign language competence of future biotechnologists as a necessary component of their professional formation and development. It is considered the specificity and structural components of research activities of students – future biotechnologists. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the pedagogical conditions for improving the foreign language competence of future biotechnologists as a necessary component of their professional training. It was defined the foreign language competence as an integrative characteristic of a person, a set of linguoculturological knowledge, communication skills, motivation for foreign language communication that provides the ability and readiness of the student to successful communication in the intercultural space. It is noted that the foreign language competence is a component of communicative competence and an integral component of the general personal culture. It was outlined the reasons of insufficient formation of the foreign language competence of students: discrepancy between the volume of the content of the educational material and time provided for its assimilation, lack of communication with the professional context, caused by the traditional system of the education organization within which training of the future specialists in the majority of universities is carried out. It was substantiated the pedagogical conditions of improving the process of formation of foreign language competence of future biotechnologists: organization of additional training in the form of training courses that provides continuous professional foreign-language education; optimization of the independent work of future biotechnologists in the system of higher professional education; application of various types of the Internet sources in the educational and extracurricular activities. The specified pedagogical conditions determine the expansion of the range of linguoculturological knowledge, contribute to the formation of an active position of future biotechnologists as subjects of interpersonal communication; mastering the experience of foreign language communication and interaction in the intercultural space. Humanistic orientation of future biotechnologists will contribute to the formation of foreign language competence that will open an opportunity for students-biotechnologists to develop and achieve professional success.References
