The principle of freedom and the border of government intervention of J.S. Mill

The article presents the political and legal views of one of the founders of English liberalism, J. Mill; analyzed the state of scientific research topics, processed sources; the concept of freedom has been defined and the “legal” bound aries of an individual’s sovereignty have been clarified; considered the problem of the relationship of man and power in a democratic society based on the analysis of the views of J. Mill. investigated the problem of civil liberty of the ideal form of power, its criteria and conditions of existence in the political and legal doctrine of the thinker; established features of state intervention in the affairs of society and the individual.
