PYOMETRA IN MARES (CLINICAL SIGNS, DIAGNOSIS)

Abstract.Thequestionsofflow, clinicalsignsofdiseasepyometrainmaresfeaturesanddiagnosisofthediseaseareoutlined. Pyometrainhorsescanoccurintwoforms: openorclosedcervix. Incaseswhenacervixisopen - youcanseethepresenceofaqueousorcreamyfluidthatstandsoutfromthegenitalslit. Whereasin a caseof a closedcervix, thefluidaccumulatesinanuterus, thelatestincreasesinsizeand, finally, takestheformof a ball. Themainfeatureofthediseaseisinfertility. Sexualcyclesareabsentfor a longtime. Thepurposeofclinicalandlaboratorydiagnosticstudiesistodeterminethesourceofvaginaldischargeand a projectionforfuturefertilityofanimals. Diagnosisofpyometraisbasedondirecttransrectalpalpationoftheuterus, ultrasoundandenhancedfluid-filleduterusanduterinefluidanalysis. Differentialdiagnosisofpyometrainvolvesdistinguishingsymptomsofthediseaseofbacterialendometritis, 80-120-day pregnancy, fungalendometritis, metritis-laminitis-sepsiscomplex,mixometra, hydrometra, cystic-glandularhyperplasia, endometrialneoplasia. Theprognosisforlifeisfavorable, forreproductivefunction - pessimistic, animalfertilityisnotrestored.
