Abstract
FERTILIZERS APPLICATION FORINTENSIFICATION OFPOPLAR PLANTATIONS PRODUCTIVITY IN VOLYNPOLISSYA
Introduction As there is an excess of unfit and unsuitable land for agricultural use in Polissya region particularly relevant is the introduction of plantation production to these territories. However, 46% of the Ukrainian forest Woodlands are occupied by pine forest types which fertility not sufficient for the achievement of forest plantations burst performance, an effective poplar plantation management is possible only in case of the rational fertilizers input system, that allows to promote soil fertility and improve the planting conditions to optimal for poplar cultivars.
The aim of research was to determinate the effect of different doses and methods of fertilization while nutrition in pine forest types (subors) of Volyn Polissya on annual poplar growth and changes in the studied parameters during the vegetation season.
Material and methods. Following that the recommended norm of complex mineral fertilizers for forest plantations in Polissya is about 150 kg/ha of operating substance, while testing of scientifically reasonable dose of fertilizers (NPK) input for a plantation feeding minimal (5 g/m2), recommended (15 g/m2) and maximal (30 g/m2) its doses were investigated. A fertilizer was weighed in accordance with the investigated dose, poured to a pre-stem zone of plants and mixed with soil.
The following methods of fertilizers input were tested: interfusion with soil, dispersion on frozen melted soil, application of NPK water solution. In following research the recommended for Polissya norm – 15 g/m2 was used. Control – poplar plants without feeding.
During an experiment forest-taxation, analytical, comparative methods and the statistical estimation of data was conducted.
Main results. In the first half of the vegetative season, the larger increase in height was distinguished in poplar plants that were feeded with the use of minimal and recommended doses. Their average increase in height was 21,8 cm and a 18,7 cm, respectively and on 30% and 18% was higher, compared to control. In the second half of the vegetation season the largest increase in height was observed in experiments with feeding using the recommended dose, and in case of minimal dose was the smallest – 9,8 cm. In general, for a whole vegetative season the largest increase in height (35,0 cm) attained cultivars feeded with the use of recommended dose of the approved fertilizer and on 34 % were higher compared to control.
Among the investigated variants of methods of fertilization, the largest increase in height during the first half and overall for a vegetation season was observed in poplar samples feeded with the use of NPK water solution (on 25% and 31% they exceeded control).
Conclusions. With the aim of providing the intensive poplar plantations growth in height in pine forest types of Volyn Polissya the important factor is the improvement of soil mineral level and approaching of soil fertility to the optimal for cultivars. Especially actual in this context is the use of scientifically reasonable and approved doses of fertilizers and rational methods of their input.
More expedient among the investigated methods of feeding is the use of NPK water solution extract that assists to more intensive growth in height of poplar cultivars and promotes the plantation annual increment increasing on 30% compared to control.
Approbation of different doses of complex mineral fertilizers confirms most efficiency of the recommended dose –15 g/m2 .
