Man and society: peculiarities of social work with disabled people and people with special needs

Describes the features of the complex mechanism of state social policy in the context of the European discourse. The main attention is paid to the problem of social adaptation of people with disabilities and people with special needs. Thus, social work with people with special needs should be aimed at adaptation the public, not the person with needs, to life in society.

Time of culture is the eternal theme of relations between traditions and the innovation. That is why every historical epoch solved these issues its own way, covering the whole range of cultural activities. According to Aristotle, the main «virtues» are wisdom, prudence, justice. Philosopher Bertrand Russell among the most essential virtues pointed out the optimism, courage (as the ability to defend your beliefs), and intelligence. At the present time the manifestations of spirituality in all its dimensions are beyond doubt. Tolerance, communication, justice, love of freedom can be the logical extension. Indian philosopher S. Grosh argued that spirituality in its essence is the awakening of the inner reality of our creation, our soul, our inner desire to know, to feel and to identify oneself with it, get in touch with a higher reality, merge with it, and as a consequence of this contact - to transform our entire being into a new one, a new identity, a new nature. Aesthetic categories take special place in the culture of human coexistence. Harmony and measure, the beautiful and the ugly, the elevated and the mean, the tragic and the comic, etc. – all of these are moral models, without which the existence of any society is impossible. To live without rules and be guided only by your own impulses is impossible for the public person, because he is subject to laws, and this person carries that cultural code which unites the community. These codes can be local or universal. Nowadays the urbanization is being powerfully spread, provoking much cultural and psychological tension and stress, and sometimes even conflicts. That is why the issues of social behavior norms, the aesthetic preferences are becoming more and more frequent. To this end, there are rehabilitation centers for people with disabilities, discussion clubs, schools for parents, community liaison offices and so on. They are all aimed at implementing the state policy to shape a healthy lifestyle; stabilization of family relationships; prevention of conflicts, legal consulting. The consideration together with external and internal resources in difficult life situations connected with the destinies of people with disabilities and people with special needs.
