Genetic potential of productivity of egg crosses of “Lohmann Breeders GmbH”

Now, crossbred chickens imported from abroad have been used in Ukraine for the industrial production of food eggs. Lohmann Breeders GmbH (Germany) is one of the leading breeding companies specializing in the creation of crosses of laying hens. However, not all crosses of this company are used in poultry farms in Ukraine. It should be taken into account that the genetic potential of poultry productivity is manifested under certain conditions of keeping and feeding. In this regard, the purpose of the research was to analyze the main directions of selection and breeding work in egg poultry farming and to study the productive indicators of modern egg crosses of poultry selected by Lohmann Breeders GmbH.
Currently, the company offers the following crosses of chickens for the industrial production of food eggs using classical technology: "Lohmann brownclassic", "Lohmann brown-extra", "Lohmann brown-lite", "Lohmann LSL-classic", "Lohmann LSL-extra", "Lohmann LSL-lite", "Lohmann LSLultra lite", "Lohmann sandy", "Lohmann silver", "Lohmann tradition".
By using industrial poultry up to 72 weeks of age, you can get from 317 eggs (cross "Lohmann silver") to 335 (cross "Lohmann LSL-ultra light") for one initial laying hen. In the productive period up to 80 weeks of life, the laying capacity per initial laying hen is 361-381 eggs. "Lohmann LSL-ultra lite" cross of chickens (381 eggs) is characterized by the highest egg production during the specified period. When keeping hens up to 100 weeks of age, their laying capacity is from 442 to 482 eggs. The hens "Lohmann brown extra", "Lohmann LSL-extra" and "Lohmann tradition" have the largest mass of eggs.
Hybrid laying hens of all studied crosses have an optimal live weight, which correlates with feed consumption per unit of production. At the same time, hens that lay eggs with a white or cream shell consume 1.9-2.1 kg of feed per 1 kg of egg mass, and 2.0-2.2 kg with a brown shell.
