Abstract

Abstract. The relevance of the study of the problem of interactive technologies in distance learning of English is due to the social needs in training specialists with a high level of knowledge in the English language of professional purposes, which, in turn, requires updating the technologies and the very process of training such specialists in modern universities. The article discusses the theoretical and practical foundations of the introduction of interactive technologies of distance learning in the educational process for biotechnology students and determines the possibilities of organisation of distance learning of students, including providing feedback and monitoring their knowledge. The methods used in this article include the review of literature and modern research, as well as the analysis of modern distance learning technologies as the main research method. This technique provides an opportunity to answer the main questions of the study and explore the problem of using interactive technologies of distance learning English for biotechnology students. Interactive learning technologies have been useful in distance education, especially in the process of monitoring students' knowledge in these unprecedented times caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The work of educational institutions in the conditions of distance learning required the improvement of both methods and techniques of teaching and forms of monitoring students' knowledge and, in particular, with the help of interactive and digital tools. Interactive learning allows significantly increasing the volume of language and communicative practice of students and achieving the proper assimilation of the material by participants in interactive communication. It is proved that the assessment of the level of student achievement in mastering the content of the discipline in accordance with the requirements of current standards, in terms of distance learning is best done with the help of distance platforms. The use of interactive and digital technologies for teaching and monitoring students’ knowledge in the English language in the process of distance learning confirms that the methodically approved use of such tools ensures the systematic nature of objective and individual monitoring of the results of educational activities of each student and allows teachers to quickly obtain high-quality, complete characteristics of the results and increases the efficiency of managing the educational activities of students of non-linguistic universities, in particular students-biotechnologists. The educational process under the conditions of distance learning is multifaceted, mobile and situational. It includes updating didactic materials, attracting innovative interactive technologies, intensifying independent work of students, etc. The combination of traditional teaching methods and tools with modern distance and interactive technologies helps to increase student achievement, optimises the learning process and promotes the implementation of the open education idea.
