The study is examines the feasibility of integrating information and energy systems to ensure optimal use of existing infrastructure and reduce the overall costs of powering buildings and performing computations. Given the development and increase in the number of data centers, which requires the expansion of electricity generation and distribution systems, the possibility of integrating information and energy systems—where they could complement each other while replacing costly electricity transmission with cheaper data transmission and maximizing the utilization of waste heat—is significant. The conducted modeling indicates the possibility of reducing operating costs by 18–40% depending on the consumption patterns of electrical and thermal energy, as well as additional potential for load regulation on the grid.
